110 Halloween Baking Ideas UK

We can trace the first origins of Halloween right back to Samhain, an ancient Celtic festival. During this festival, people believed that the spirits of the dead returned to visit the living. In a bid to keep those spirits away, costumes were worn and bonfire were lit – the sight thought to terrify and confuse those who don’t walk the earth.

As Christianity began to spread, the Catholic Church incorporated some of the rituals of Samhain into their own holiday, All Saints’ Day. All Hallows’ Eve, or Halloween, was the night before All Saints’ Day.

If it’s the spirit of death you want to incorporate into your Halloween festivities, these spooky, scary, and delicious Halloween baking ideas will definitely tick all the boxes! Are you ready to jump right in?

Did you know that Disney’s beloved Halloween flick, Hocus Pocus, was almost a totally different movie? Originally titled Disney’s Halloween House, the script was much darker and scarier, but it was eventually toned down to appeal to a family audience. Leonardo DiCaprio was also considered for the lead role, but he chose What’s Eating Gilbert Grape instead.

And if you’re making your own pastry, I’ve got a couple of really helpful tips to share with you. Firstly, instead of a knife, use a pastry scraper to cut your pastry dough. It’s less likely to compress or distort the dough. Secondly, when rolling out pastry dough, try to roll in one direction rather than back and forth. This helps maintain the dough’s integrity and prevents overworking it.

Do you want one more pastry tip? Okay, go on, then. Place your rolling pin in the freezer for a while before rolling out pastry dough. A cold rolling pin helps prevent the dough from sticking and can make rolling easier.
