If you’re in the market for a drink that is boozy, warming, and oh-so-delicious, have I got a treat for you. A hot chocolate crossed with a cocktail; it could be just the thing to top off a busy, cold day. Let me show you how to make a hot chocolate kiss cocktail. (Because you know you’ll want to ty this one for yourself!)

Chocolate Kiss Cocktail: Ingredients

You will need the following ingredients to make this boozy-but-brilliant beverage:

The average Irish coffee glass is approximately 240ml, so I’ve based the actual ml amounts for a glass of that size.

  • Coffee Liqueur
  • Peppermint Schnapps
  • Hot Chocolate
  • Squirty Cream
IngredientUKUS
Coffee Liqueur25ml1oz (just under)
Peppermint Schnapps25ml1oz (just under)
Hot Chocolate180ml (fill to just below rim)6.5oz (just under)
Squirty/Whipped CreamFor garnish

It’s up to you how much alcohol you add to this hot chocolate drink. It is recommended to have 1x30ml shot of alcohol for a 240ml beverage. (210ml would be the non-alcoholic part.) Technically, this drink would be closer to a ‘double’, just with more hot chocolate mixer.

You will also need the following bits n’ pieces:

  • Measuring shot glasses or similar (if you’re a measurer)
  • Heatproof glass, like an Irish coffee glass
  • Stirrer
  • All the things to make hot chocolate (obviously)

Chocolate Kiss Cocktail: Instructions

This recipe is super simple and will take you just a few minutes, depending on how you like to make your hot chocolate.

Let’s drive right in…

Step One: Hot Chocolate Time

First thing’s first, get your hot chocolate going. You can make it fresh, in a saucepan with literal melted chocolate and all the rest of it; or you can use the powdered stuff that you just mix with milk, water or a mixture of both. It’s entirely up to you.

My mum makes hers in the slow cooker. I’d probably do it that way too if it didn’t take literal hours. I’m far too impatient for that.

I recommend using whatever you have at home, and whatever is easiest for you.

Also, for what it’s worth, I totally made this using Cadbury’s Hot Chocolate and it was just fiiiiine.

Step Two: Prep the Glass

This is a hot drink, so you don’t need to chill the glass. You can decorate the rim if you’re feeling fancy, but I don’t usually bother with this drink. It’s perfect just as it is, especially with a little whipped cream on top.

You will want to pour the booze into the bottom of the glass, though — the peppermint schnapps and coffee liqueur.

Step Three: Add the Hot Chocolate

You’ll want to fill the heatproof glass up with hot chocolate but leave a bit of space at the top for the squirty cream finishing touch. Otherwise, there won’t be enough room for it, and it’ll end up sliding down the glass. I hate it when that happens.

Step Four: Squirty Cream Time

Add the squirty cream with as much grace as you can manage. Mine always ends up looking like a toddler made it, so don’t worry if yours look a mess. It’ll still taste good.

You can add a flake, a cherry, chocolate sprinkles, chocolate flakes, chocolate sauce, or whatever you like to the top, if you want to make it even more special. The more decorations the better, I say.

What do you think, though? Do you like decorations on/in your drink?

Step Four: Serve/Enjoy

Whether you’re serving up for a group, or making one drink to enjoy yourself, it’s now time to actually enjoy it. Put your feet up, put a good movie on, and sip away at this lush, warming, chocolatey drink.

I bet you don’t regret it!

Remember: Always drink responsibly.
